After a day at the zoo with John's sister, Jane, and dinner at Steak & Shake in Melbourne, we went back to the condo and relaxed.
We knew there was a rocket launch scheduled for that evening. The internet showed a scheduled launch at 8:22 pm. An Atlas rocket was going to lift a communication satellite into orbit from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
A few minutes before the launch time Mary and I headed for the beach to wait for the launch. There were many people on the beach also waiting for the launch. The sky behind a dune lit up. After a few seconds the glow from the rocket and the rocket came into view. The amazing thing about the launch was that the rocket was way above the earth before we heard it. Then it was very loud.
This was impressive, but I still want to see a shuttle launch.
