Moosehead Lake Vacation
August 23 - 30, 2008
We stayed at a very nice house in the town of Monson about 15 miles south of Moosehead Lake. The house is right on Lake Hebron.

The rental house owner had 3 Hummingbird feeders and a couple of flowering hanging planters. I took some photos of the Hummingbirds as they fed. At one point a hawk landed in a tree across the street.
Woke up early and walked down to our private dock on Lake Hebron. Took a couple of photos of the early morning fog over the lake and a Bullfrog in the shallow water between the dock and the shore.
Kristi, Kris, Donna, Courtney & Victoria come for a visit. Some of us kayak. Dinner in Greenville then back to the rental and I give away some of my peace buttons.
We take a drive to learn more about the area. We head thru Greenville and then up the east side of Moosehead Lake. Up thru Lily Bay State Park then Kokadjo to Lazy Tom Bog. Back down thru Greenville then up the west side towards Rockwood. On the way we see a Bull Moose cross the road behind us and stop for pictures. Then up to Rockwood for views of Mount Kineo.

(...and maybe some pictures)
We decide to paddle around some of Lake Hebron. We take our Hobie kayaks which are pedal or paddle. It was a little windy and parts of the lake were choppy.
An evening drive looking at more water and possible paddle places and home in time to get a few pictures of the sunset from the dock of the rental house.
Moosehead Lake tour on the Katahdin. The Katahdin was converted from the lumber service and turned into a tour boat for Moosehead Lake.
A lazy day. We spend the day driving around Greenville area and just looking at some of the sights
We want to see a moose. We arrange thru 'Northwoods Outfitters', in Greenville, to take a tour by canoe. One guide and 6 tourists go by van to First West Branch Pond. We see a cow moose.
