“Leave only footprints, take only memories” (...and maybe some pictures)
June 13, 2014
1:10 pm Our last full day in Arkansas. We slept in and took the morning easy.  Had a leisurely breakfast of the Jimmy Dean biscuit sandwiches getting ready for going back to NY soon.  At 1 in the afternoon we are about to sit down to lunch of chips and dip (we bought the day we arrived and haven’t touched yet). Highlight of the day was a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk that hung around in trees near our unit.  We got some real good looks at it and some nice photos.  Other birds around our unit: Northern Cardinal, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Wren, Mockingbird and also a couple of adult Red-tailed Hawks. After a morning of bird and boat watching we finally took the time to walk around the resort property.  They had a man-made waterfall and a deck area right on the water. Our plan for the day is pack to prepare for leaving tomorrow.  Head out and shop for some souvenirs and have dinner somewhere. 6:15 pm We stopped at a souvenir shop.  I didn’t find anything interesting but Barbara bought 2 tubs of pecan brittle, one for us and one for her pet sitter. Then we played a round of miniature golf at Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf.  Very interesting course with two 18-hole courses.  We saw a Mallard Duck with a cluster of ducklings.  The MiniGolf course has a floating duck house in the middle of one of its ponds for the ducks. At the Blue Monkey Grill for dinner.  The owner of the MiniGolf suggested this place for dinner.  I never had Shrimp Scampi with breaded shrimp before but is was very garlicy and very good.  Barbara had Bonbon shrimp and chicken which is coconut milk and curry sauce with cilantro, vegetables and noodles: “absolutely delicious”. 8:00 pm In the timeshare and finishing up packing.  Our plan is to have the truck all packed and ready to go and be on the road very early in the a.m.  Vacation is over   All in all I was very impressed with Arkansas.  The people were very friendly, the area we visited was very nice and I may have found a new place to think about retiring to.
