Take a hike...

Barbara and John take a short hike in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. Trail head parking is well marked but small with many cars lining the shoulder of the road.  We got a sign that it was going to be a very good day: parked behind a car with seven cat stickers in the back window.  There is even a porta-potty in the parking area for a relieved start (or finish) to the hike. From the roadside parking there is a small foot bridge to the trail.  First sighting is a place to sign in and out that your are on the trail.  Next thing we noticed was some walking sticks stacked against a tree waiting for anyone that needs it.  There were even more when we finished our hike. The trail is smooth in some areas, very rocky in some and even walking on some boulders was required.  Good signs when there were options so that we didn’t get lost. The views from the ledge were outstanding.  The distance was a little hazy giving the further features a pleasing blue hue. I got to try out my new toy... a remote shutter release for my camera.  Small, light weight, easy to connect and use.  Got some nice shots with it on the ledge. Heard many more birds than we saw.  Saw many wildflowers and even a few chipmunks. All-in-all a very nice day for a short hike in the mountains.  It ended up being about a 3.2 mile hike.
