A nice bike ride

We met up with Laura and Carl in Adams, Massachusetts near one end of the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail.  Carl dropped Laura and her bike off and headed to Pittsfield (near the other end) where his horse is being trained. The three of us (Laura, Barbara & John) set off at a fairly easy pace to ride the approximate 11 miles to the other end of the trail near the Berkshire Mall in Pittsfield. The Rail Trail is paved the entire length.  There are not many road crossings and the views are nice.  It is easy to forget the trail parallels a local major road (Route 8).  There are low hills in the background which, with the leaves changing, added some nice color to the scenery. Besides Route 8, the trail follows the shoreline of the Cheshire Reservoir, the Berkshire Pond and the Hoosic River. A very pleasant day spent riding our bicycles in the country.  We met up with Carl again at the trail’s southern end in Pittsfield.  We loaded up the bikes and followed Carl into Pittsfield for lunch.  We ate at Panchos Mexican Restaurant.  Very good.
